An open letter to my neighbours

Dear Friend,

I am writing you today as your neighbour, who has lived in Edmonton Mill Woods for nearly 35 years. Living in our community, my wife Sarbjeet and I have shared countless experiences with you. During our conversations, I have listened to your hopes, fears, and aspirations. This has allowed me to better understand your needs, advocate on your behalf, and deliver results.

You work hard to put food on the table and stretch every dollar you earn. That is why our government lowered taxes for the middle class by raising them for the wealthiest 1%. It is why we brought in a new tax-free Canada Child Benefit that is lifting kids out of poverty, increased income support for seniors, and made post-secondary education more affordable.

To save jobs, I advocated for the purchase of the Trans Mountain Pipeline when the private sector was going to walk away. I did the hard work necessary to get the expansion built. Now, shovels are in the ground and thousands of jobs are being created. Under our government, three oil pipelines are being built and $9 billion in petrochemical projects have been unlocked.

I advocated for and delivered local infrastructure, including the LRT expansion, turning Yellowhead into a real freeway and funding for an overpass at the 50th Street Rail Crossing so you can spend more time with your family and less time stuck in traffic.

I have demonstrated that having a strong, local voice in the government delivers results.

With your support, we will do more to make living affordable. If re-elected, we will put an extra $1,500 a year into the pockets of families like yours by cutting taxes even further and lowering cell phone bills by 25%. We will bring in universal pharmacare, so every family can afford the prescription medications they need.

I believe that on October 21st, Canadians will reject a return to the days when Conservatives cut taxes for the wealthy while cutting services for everyone else, and that they will reject inaction on climate change. I believe Canadians will choose forward.

Edmonton and Alberta need a strong voice in a re-elected Liberal government — and I have demonstrated that I can be that strong voice. If I am re-elected, I will never stop fighting for you, your family and our community. I will stand up against the deep cuts to public services on the way from our Conservative provincial government. I will continue delivering for Edmonton.

On October 21st, I hope I can count on your support.

Liberal Candidate for Edmonton Mill Woods
